Portland Copwatch has scheduled a cycle of the three trainings we offer to those who wish to volunteer with us or those who are just curious about police accountability issues. The trainings are: Orientation to Portland Copwatch, Your Rights and the Police Seminar, and How to Copwatch Training, to be held over the course of two Saturdays in October; October 10th 11 AM - 2 PM, Orientation and Your Rights; October 17th 11 AM - 2 PM, How to Copwatch. Pre-registration is required, and a $10 donation will help secure your spot as participation is limiited.
Details:
In the past we have offered these all on one day, or one each month for
three months. In October, we will try holding the three workshops over two
Saturdays, October 10 and October 17, from 11 AM to 2 PM:
All to be held at the American Friends Service Committee office, 2249 E Burnside. Snacks will be provided, so brown-bagging a sandwich will be a good idea if you need to eat a full lunch.
PLEASE pre-register; space is limited. We request a $10 total donation to secure your place
in the trainings.
The donation will help us cover costs related to the trainings.
Please RSVP by phone or email and send your donation via mail. More details on the trainings:
Portland Copwatch orientation (October 10)
introduces you to our organization and many of the issues we work on,
covers possibilities for volunteering, and contextualizes some of the
"Alphabet soup" we talk about at meetings. (What's the PJTTF? The CRC?
What's PARC, the AMA, the AFSC? How can you express being anti-police
brutality but not anti-police?)
